Sports massage is deep, focused hands-on work on the muscles, tendons and connective tissue that training and daily life leave tight. It is not a spa rub down. The aim is to find the areas that are overloaded or restricted, work them loose, and get you moving and feeling better, then give you a couple of things to keep it that way.

What to expect when
Steven arrives
Because Steven is mobile, the session comes to you, at home, your gym or the club. He brings the table, oils and tools, so all you need is a clear bit of floor about two metres by three. Every session starts with a quick chat about how you are moving and where it is tight, then the hands-on work, then a few simple things to take away.
Session length
Most people book 30, 45 or 60 minutes. For a full-body reset, or more than one problem area, take the 60. Steven will give you an honest steer after the first session rather than push you toward the longest slot.
Afterwards
It is normal to feel a little tender for 24 to 48 hours, much like after a good workout. Drink plenty of water, keep moving gently, and avoid a hard training session that same day. Steven leaves you with a few stretches or pointers to hold the progress between visits.
When it is not suitable
Sports massage is not right over fresh injuries, fractures, infections, skin conditions or certain medical issues. If something needs a scan or a doctor, Steven will tell you straight and point you the right way, rather than treat past his remit. If you are pregnant or managing a health condition, mention it when you book and he will advise honestly.

Does it hurt?
It can feel firm when Steven works through a tight area, but it should never be unbearable. He works to your feedback and adjusts the pressure as he goes. Most people find it relieving, and loose and easy afterwards.
Do I need to provide anything?
No. Steven is mobile and brings the table, oils and tools with him. All you need is a clear bit of floor about two metres by three.
What should I wear?
Loose, comfortable clothing like shorts and a t-shirt. Steven uses towels to keep you covered and only works the area being treated.
How often should I book?
It depends on your training load. People in heavy training often go fortnightly, most find every three to four weeks keeps them moving well. You get an honest recommendation, no pressure.
Do you treat injuries?
Soft tissue work helps a wide range of aches, strains and recovery cases. Anything that needs a scan or medical care, Steven will say so plainly and point you to the right professional.
How far do you travel?
Steven covers Doncaster and the surrounding DN postcodes. Just outside? Ask anyway, he travels for the right booking.
